Eating out
Close to home we are spoilt for choice as both pubs in Georgeham village are wonderful for different reasons.
The rock inn
For a great gastro experience we can recommend The Rock Inn, a good old Devon pub with a great atmosphere. Families are welcome. The conservatory at the back of the pub offers a lovely bright feel to your dining experience. It has a charming owner / front-of-house so you are guaranteed great service. To book a table (recommended) call 01271 890322 or just pop in.
The kings arms
This pub is great for a cosy, relaxed environment to eat and drink, sit outside in the sunshine on the decking, watch a match, or listen to live music (Friday nights). Opening hours for food are 12pm-2pm and 6pm-9pm pn Monday-Saturday and 12pm-7pm on Sunday.
Sandleigh national trust tea room and garden
Sandleigh offers divine surroundings from which to enjoy a cream tea or lunch. This tea room is only a stone’s throw away from Croyde Bay on Baggy Point. There is also a gorgeous home-wares shop ‘The Oyster Catcher’ for you to browse after your delicious food.
The riverside
Owned and run by a local brother and sister team, the Riverside serves some fantastic local food. Well worth a visit. Find them at 30 Caen Street, Braunton, EX33 1AA and call 01271 813633.
The gendarmerie

Noel corston@ex34
A trail blazing, multi-award winning restaurant based in Woolacombe. The chef/owner Noel, is a dad at the school with us, and his gorgeous wife Nora provides fantastic table service. They offer one fixed tasting menu which is built around the seasons, reflecting our north devon environment. This one needs to go in the 'treat' night of your holiday as it is definitely one for the grown-ups, but we can help with babysitters!
Guests can dine either at the Chef's Counter which accommodates 6, or in the Dining Room which seats 10. Reservations for either are essential.
Escape the ordinary at Saunton Vineyard
Step back from the sands and immerse yourself in the relaxed pace of Saunton Vineyard, nestled between Braunton and Saunton beach and with stunning views across the Atlantic.
Join us for a tour where you'll discover how our vines and wine-making process are guided by low-intervention methods to produce the finest Devonian wine. Our friendly guides will share the stories behind each bottle that reflect the unique terroir of the UNESCO biosphere reserve that surrounds the site.
Each tour also includes a tasting experience where you can sample three of the six wines that are made at the vineyard and soak up the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
Enjoy your wines with local cheese and charcuterie boards or take advantage of the VineDining BBQ, where freshly chargrilled meats and seafood take center stage and are cooked to order, showcasing the best local produce. There's also cream teas, coffees and snacks for the earlier risers amongst us. If you want to skip straight to the sampling, drop in after 6pm Thursday, Friday or Saturday at our Vineyard Bar for a sunset experience. Just make sure to prebook via the website if you'd like to dine with us too.
For the more adventurous visitors, make a weekend of it by booking a tent or van camping pitch onsite between July and September. Ready to experience Devon's hidden gem? Book your tour now at sauntonvineyard.com
